Artificial Intelligence (AI) Guidelines

The editorial board of SOPHIA: Jurnal Teologi dan Pendidikan Kristen upholds high standards of originality and scientific integrity. We recognize that artificial intelligence (AI) improves research efficiency. However, technology cannot replace human critical thinking or creativity. Authors, reviewers, and editors must follow these technical requirements.

1. Assistive AI Use (Disclosure Required)

We allow authors to use AI as a technical support tool for improving grammar, clarifying sentence structure, or performing digital literature searches. Authors must report the use of these tools explicitly in the research methods section. The author remains fully responsible for the accuracy of the manuscript.

2. Generative AI Use (Disclosure Required)

This category includes using LLMs to produce text, code, or visualizations. We limit AI-generated content to a maximum of 20% of the total manuscript. Authors must cite authentic primary sources, avoid using AI as a primary reference, and describe the specific prompts used in the methods section.

3. Prohibited Actions and Ethical Violations

We strictly forbid practices that harm academic standards, including:

  • Manipulating or creating false empirical data using AI.
  • Replacing human participants with AI simulations in qualitative research.
  • Constructing thematic analyses or human experience interpretations entirely through machines.
  • Presenting AI generated visuals as unique or new research findings.
  • Using fictitious references or fabricated claims from generative AI.

4. Ethics for Editors and Reviewers

Reviewers are prohibited from using AI to write evaluation comments. Violations will result in dismissal from the review process. Editors must not use AI as the basis for final decisions and may only use AI detection software as a verification tool for originality.

5. Academic Responsibility

Authors maintain full control over the accuracy of theological and educational content. Every citation must include the correct page number to facilitate precise verification by editors and reviewers. SOPHIA: Jurnal Teologi dan Pendidikan Kristen prioritizes authentic and systematic human thought.

Scientific Integrity is the Foundation of SOPHIA: Jurnal Teologi dan Pendidikan Kristen
